This page provides a brief description of everything you can do on the Knettishall Community Website. If you get stuck, encounter any problems, or have any suggestions, you can always contact the webmaster at webmaster@knettishall.org or by clicking the "Contact Us" links at the left or top of any page.

User Login and Registration

You may always browse this site as a guest, however if you want to submit or post anything (see below) you must register for a free account. It is very quick and takes less than one minute! Don't worry, we never ask for any sensitive personal information, and we will never share any information with any other organizations. Some content is also restricted to registered users only (e.g. polls, carpool information). Best of all, when you sign up, you will receive convenient e-mail reminders of upcoming events!

Login

Enter your knettishall.org username and password here. These are what you chose when you signed up for an account. If this is your first visit, then you need to sign up for an account by clicking the "Register now!" link near the bottom-left of this page. To register, all you have to do is make up a new username and password for knettishall.org and enter them along with a valid e-mail address.

User Menu

This is where you control your account. You can view what information about yourself you provided, and what information people can see, under the "View Account" link, and edit all this under "Edit Account." "Notifications" is a service provided for most of the content where you can sign up to receive e-mails if someone posts a new topic or responds to one of your posts. You can manage them all here. The "Inbox" contains messages that have been sent to you through this website (also called "Private Messages" or "PM"). Click "Logout" if you wish to log off, for example if you are on a public or shared computer.

Home

The "Home Page" is the default page when you enter the website. It provides links to all the content in the left column, with a special menu bar at the top that has useful shortcuts which pop up when you put the mouse over a category (try it now!). The center and right columns show summaries of useful stuff, like the latest news, upcoming events, or polls we are conducting. We also have convenient weather and traffic reports at the bottom of the page.

News

This is where you go to find out the latest news about Knettishall, Towson, or the greater Baltimore area. You can also submit your own news notes. To ensure the content is "family friendly", the webmaster must approve your submissions, which usually takes less than a day.

Calendar

Use this area to find out when events are happening in and around Knettishall. If you have something of interest to the community that you would like to add, click the red "Submit" link that appears under the word "Calendar" in the left-hand menu. All submissions must be approved by the webmaster.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

This is our (growing) list of frequently asked questions, or things you should know but might not think to ask. If you have questions or answers you would like added, send them to us by clicking "Contact Us" at the left or top of any page.

Discussion Forums

Also known as Bulletin Boards, the discussion forum is there for you to discuss any topics you think relevant to the neighborhood. The forum is organized into categories, and each particular discussion is called a "topic." Click the category name, and then the topic name, to navigate through them. You can start a new topic in any category, or reply to any ongoing topic, by clicking the appropriate button on each page. Carpools: There is a special forum for carpools, where you can post if you are looking for or want to be in a carpool to particular places/times. With gas prices so high, we hope residents will find this useful!

Classifieds

Just like the newspaper classifieds, or Craigslist, our classifieds section is for you to post things to buy, sell, or trade, as well as services you would like to offer or need. If you are looking to sell a chair, or need to buy a lawnmower, or want to trade some golf clubs for something else, use the "Buy/Sell/Trade" ads. If you want to advertise your small business, are available to mow lawns, tutor, or shovel snow, or if you need any of these sort of things, use our "Services Offered/Wanted" ads.

Reviews

Do you have a favorite plumber, babysitter, gardener, restaurant, etc? Did you have a really awful experience and want to make sure no one makes the same mistake? Use our "Reviews" section to post a review and share your information with your neighbors.

Polls

Reserved for Registered Users only, the polls are a quick way for us to take the pulse of your needs. Topics will change over the year, and you can propose topics by contacting us.
